At the Metro Manila Monthly Staff Meeting, Dr. Jun Escosar gave very helpful insights days before the elections.
I just thought it might be helpful so I decided to transfer my notes onto this blog.
Here are Dr. Jun E.’s thoughts…
1. No matter what happens, God is in charge; it is He alone who can save us.
It is not one person, one candidate, not one political leader who can bring genuine change and transformation in our nation. It is HE alone who can save.
For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; it is he who will save us. (Is. 33:22)
2. Vote wisely and leave the rest to God.
Exodus 18:1, gives us the qualities of what we are to look for in a leader.
- Capable
- Men/Women who fear God
- Trustworthy men/women
- People who hate dishonest gain
3. We should pray for our government leaders.
Whatever the results of the election, we are commanded from Scripture to pray for our leaders.
1 Timothy 2:1-2. I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made
for everyone- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
4. We must become pro-active, law-abiding citizens.
Life doesn’t start or end with the elections. It will be a mistake to think that one day will see a nation change. It will be just as big a mistake to think one leader can bring genuine transformation all by themselves. We will all have to lock arms and come together to see turn this nation back to Him.
He determines the course of world events; he removes kings and sets others on the throne. Daniel 2:21, NLT
