“BAD TASTE IN MY MOUTH”

Last Saturday, I needed to take some paracetamol.

Right beside my 5 year old son’s water bottle was another one that I decided to drink from. Because I needed to gulp real fast to swallow the tablet, I took in a lot. Somehow, right at the moment the “water” touched my mouth, it tasted funny.

The “water” tasted funny precisely because it wasn’t water.

When I grabbed the bottle, I realized that the label said “Agua de Colognia”.

I knocked on the bathroom door because my wife, Jenn was there.
She didn’t want to open the door. Who does when you’re having your own private time?

So I knocked harder and shouted “Help!”
This caused her to panic and open up the bathroom door.

I quickly brushed my teeth 3 times, gargled Bactidol 4 times, Plax 3 times and Listerine another 4 times.
No exaggeration.

My wife asked me what happened.  I told her that I mistook the cologne for water.
Her reaction? She busted out laughing.
Yup, that’s my dear sympathetic wife.

My daughter Janina then comes by a says, “your breath smells good, dad.”

Yes, I know. Read the label first. But I ignored it. And that’s what happened.

Life has a way of reminding us.

The Bible is our manual for life. God has given us encouragements, instructions and exhortations so that we don’t end up living life leaving us with such “bad taste.”

Joshua 1:8 tells us, “Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so that you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.”

If I could exhort you at the beginning of this year,

1. Get in the Word.
2. Memorize the Word.
3. Live the Word.
