When you start a new year, it can always spark up a couple of emotions.
One of which would be HOPE. Because a new year would represent a fresh start, a chance to reboot the system, an opportunity to undo some mistakes from last year.
On the other hand, it can also bring up feelings of FEAR. Why? The debt from last year is carried over to this year. You find out that dad’s cancer has gone from bad to worse. You hear that your company is going downhill and you might not have a job middle of this year. You’re graduating from college and you’re about to take the board exam. You’re not even sure if you’ll have a job after you graduate. These things pop in your head and cause feelings of fear.
But God gives assurance to the new leader of Israel, Joshua, that His presence was going to be with him. Moses was no longer there and it was up to him to bring the God’s people into the promised land.
What was God’s command?
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:5)
God commands Joshua – Be strong and courageous. He didn’t encourage him. He COMMANDED him. He TOLD him.
Guys, BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS. Why can we be strong and courageous? BECAUSE HE IS GOING TO BE WITH US WHEREVER WE GO!
