Many of us have been touched by the life of Dolphy in one way or another.
From John and Marsha to Home Along Da Riles and everything else in between, watching and listening to him has been an absolute joy.
Why has he touched so many lives?
Proverbs tells us that, “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.” (Proverbs 17:22)
Laughter plays a major role in our lives.
“A day without laughter is a day wasted.” (Charlie Chaplin)
“If we couldn’t laugh we would all go insane.” (Robert Frost)
“There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humor.” (Charles Dickens)
“The human race has only one really effective weapon and that is laughter.” (Mark Twain)
“It is cheerful to God when you rejoice or laugh from the bottom of your heart.” (Martin Luther King Jr.)
“You have as much laughter as you have faith.” (Martin Luther)
But ultimately, it is God, the source of all joy, who brings laughter and cheer to our hearts. The Bible says that “He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.” (Job 8:21)
The end result? It actually brings God glory.
“Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.” (Psalm 126:2)
