“DID YOU HEAR WHAT I SAID?”

I feel this is a question God would probably need to ask me every so often.  As I journey in this life of faith, missing out on what He said is a major possibility.

In Luke chapter 8, we find the story of Jesus calming the storm.

Right before they got onto the boat to go to the other side of the lake, Jesus said,

“Let’s go over to the other side of the lake.” (Luke 8:22)

How important was that statement?  Very…

Once the squall came, we find the disciples panicking while Jesus was sleeping.

Too often we find ourselves panicking when squalls come.  But if we listen to what He said, then maybe, just maybe we won’t find ourselves in a panic.

“Let us go over the other side of the lake.”

He didn’t say ‘let’s go under’.  He didn’t say, ‘see you in heaven.’  Neither did He say, ‘It was great to have met you guys.’

He said let us go over the other side.

His next question was, “Where is your faith?” (Luke 8:25)

Another mistake we often commit – our eyes on our circumstances rather than on the God of the circumstances.

Lord, teach us to rest on who You are and  what You’ve said in Your Word.

  1. Thanks for the reminder Pastor Pao. It also struck me that Jesus said, “Let’s” which for me is such an assurance that He is here with us through those faith-challenging moments. When God says something matter-of-factly, I know the end is good cause He sees it already.

  2. Wow, love this. Great reminder!

  4. Thanks for this teaching. I will always keep this in mind, I’m a heck of a worrier, so reality check for me 🙂

  5. Praise God for revealing Himself to you.
Just a question: are you the son of the late Helen Vela?
    Thanks.

  6. Thanks po for the teaching. Another simple strike to have a trouble-free life!

  7. When faced with life’s storms, i easily get distressed and i pray so hard hoping that God would get me out of whatever sticky situation i am in, if He would will it. i forget that He doesn’t will those things to happen, but He allows them to. I often forget that there is already a solution, I just have to calm down, pray easy, and discover it with His help. I forget that He’s always with me, so I have absolutely nothing to worry about.

that last line is my prayer: Lord, teach us to rest on who You are and what You’ve said in Your Word.

    Thank you for sharing this.=)
