Bernard Marquez emailed me a set of pictures that showed Pastor Fred Magbanua serving some of the poorest of the poor in this nation during the recent Ondoy calamity. He is involved with a lot of the baraggay and barrio churches that reach out to the remote parts of the nation.
At 76 years old, he’s still at it. There’s no stopping this guy! After being in the ministry for more than 50 years, he hasn’t slowed down.
Lord, give me grace to keep running the race and to finish it strong! Let me serve you and serve your people to my very last breath. In Your name I pray…
From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it. (Matthew 11:12)
When we don’t know where to look for help, let us turn to You for You are the Source of everything we need.
We pray for the next generation, that we would set a godly example for them to follow. Help us learn from the mistakes we’ve made so that the next generation will learn from it and avoid them altogether.
Teach us to help one another, not only in times of calamity. May it become a lifestyle so that in time we will see a nation that come together for the common good.
When we don’t know what to do, may we turn to you for wisdom for you said that “if we lack wisdom, you will give it to us generously without finding fault.” (James 1:5)
May we be able to stand above all the storms we will face for You are our refuge and strength, an ever present help in time of trouble.
For in the midst of darkness, Your light shines. And it is to You that we look to for strength, wisdom and direction. Let Your light shine in this dark hour and let us cling to you that we may understand that the path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.

Dave Ramsey gives very good and sound financial advise. Might be helpful to listen and apply these principles. He says that 80% is behavior and only 20% is knowledge. — “Just keep doing what you’re doing and you’ll keep getting what you’re getting.”
My wife and I visited a friend who was going through a life-threatening illness. And that person was having a hard time with God answering differently from what was expected.
The easiest thing to do is to give pat answers and cliche’s –
“God has a purpose.”
“God works all things for the good of those who love Him.”
“Let go and let God.”
“God is good all the time… All the time, God is good.”
“His thoughts are higher than our thoughts…”
These are not necessarily wrong answers. But it may not be the very things they’d need to hear at that time.
Maybe… just maybe… the best thing to do at that moment is to sit, commiserate and pray.
