BECAUSE WE GET TO

Posted on 8th of February, 2010

Volunteer Weekend was phenomenal!

Seeing people step up to the plate and honor God by serving Him was a sight to behold.  There’s nothing like seeing the Body at work.

We’re believing God for 2000 volunteers this year to sign up.  Audacious goal, ain’t it?  Yes but IT IS POSSIBLE.

Why?  Because this year, we are going to plant a church in Makati led by LA MUMAR, KING REYES, GAVIENNE  and STEVE CADD (who preached a powerful message at the 5 and 7 pm services last night at Victory Fort).

Because of this expansion, we will need to send the best of the best with LA and his team.

They will have an outreach event on Feb 9 and 16 at Makati Sports Club, Tues, 7pm. That would be a great time to connect with them if you live in the Makati area and if you work around that location. (click here for more info)

Bottomline, we serve God not because we have to (out of obligation) but because we get to … what an honor to serve Him.

From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. (Eph. 4:16)

“JUST A VOLUNTEER”

Posted on 4th of February, 2010

This weekend is Volunteer Weekend in many of the Victory churches in the Metro.

I remember speaking to a volunteer one time when someone asked her a question.  Because she’s a faithful and very committed volunteer, she was often seen at the church working on administrative stuff.  One person asked her if she was in full time ministry.

Her answer?  “I’m just a volunteer.”

Overhearing the conversation, I quickly yet gently corrected her, “You’re not just a volunteer.  You are a vital part of what goes own every weekend.  Don’t ever say that again.”

You are NOT JUST a volunteer.

If you are an usher that ‘ush’, you DON’T JUST point people to their seats.  You create a warm and friendly environment that would cause people to keep coming back to church so that one day they will make a commitment to follow Jesus the rest of their life.

If you are in the power point team, you are NOT JUST there to click the mouse.  You are vital to delivering the Word of God straight to the heart of the people that come.

If you are in Kids Ministry, you are NOT JUST taking care of the kids so parents can enjoy the worship service.  You are discipling the next generation of world changers.

If you are in the Administrative Support Team, you are NOT JUST in the registration table giving information to people who need it.  You are a bridge to get people involved in what God has prepared for them to be and do.

If you are in the Music Ministry, you DON’T JUST sing or play an instrument.  You have the privilege of bringing people right in the very throneroom of God.

If you are in the Communications Ministry, you DON’T JUST update websites, takes photo and video and write articles.  You are critical to the communication of God’s love to people who desperately need to hear it.

If you are in the Creative Support Ministry, you DON’T JUST create props and set designs.  You help the message of Gospel to be communicated in a way that is visual, powerful and sticky.

You see, you are NOT JUST A VOLUNTEER…

You are a vital part of what God’s doing so that His will would be done on earth as it is in heaven.

You are NOT JUST A VOLUNTEER!

CALL OF DUTY

call-of-duty-4Sunday Night Thoughts…

  • Scores surrendered their lives to Jesus. THAT never gets old.
  • Tried to mix up the order of the services. Wonder how that went.
  • Fred did an excellent job co-leading with Mayen. A question we need to often ask, “Who’s next in line?” We want to continue to build a culture of empowering.
  • Enjoyed teaching from Hebrews 6. Tough topic yet it got fun as we got into it. Hope people got something out of it.
  • Big preaching blunder… sharing something too specific. I was sharing about playing CALL OF DUTY (video game) with my 13 year old son. I said we teamed up to invade a city (World War 2 scenario) to kill all the Germans, to wipe them all out. Guess what?! After the service, Rob Johnson comes to me laughing and introduces his friend from Germany! I am normally 6′1″ tall. That moment, I shrunk to 3 feet tall.
